High School in Psary (Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace w Psarach) is a small school in a rural area located in the Upper Silesia, 60 kilometers from Katowice. The school was opened in 1996 due to the decision of local Mayor and the Municipal Council after demographic analysis. The aim of the foundation of the school was to enable young people from local villages to achieve secondary education. The school is placed in one building with the primary school and shares with it many school facilities like the gym and the canteen.

Nowadays, the number of teachers is 12 and the number of students is 62. All our students come from villages in Wozniki Borough and some of them from worse off families. The school is well equipped: we have a modern language lab, a computer lab and all required education aims. The school, both in terms of the level of education and sports achievements quickly matched to other educational institutions in the region. The main asset of our educational institution is the fact that the pass rates of the final exams are high.

The majority of our graduates continue their education at universities in Czestochowa, Katowice, Cracow and Wroclaw. Another important merit of the school is great family-like atmosphere, good teacher-student relationship and many extracurricular activities like educational trips, participating in theatrical performances, sports activities. The small number of students is the problem we have to deal with for a few years. This is mainly due to the fact that this is a village school, the students prefer to attend schools in cities, more and more young people from our area choose vocational schools and the birthrate is very low.

We hope that implementation of international projects would rise the prestige of the school in local community and in the result the recruitment of students to the school.
